I'm afraid you are trapped. The only reasonable solution is to get rid of the nested templates (which are useless for anything other than a way to punish those who mistakenly choose to use them!) This may or may not be a daunting task, depending on the complexity of the template markup. How many levels of nesting do you have in your Template hierarchy? I count three based on your description - is that correct? Do you know if your templates are using anything genuinely arcane, like template expressions or parameters?
